France is weird , you can't sack anyone so the young struggle to get a job. Also they expect them to be highly trained before being hired.

it sounds weird but maybe it makes sense there? Its no more barmy than universal income.

Note its zero tax for poor people under 30.

French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen says she will propose closer relations between Nato and Russia if she wins power.

At a news conference, the far-right politician called for a “strategic rapprochement” between the two once the war in Ukraine was over.

She added that she would pull France out of Nato’s military command structure, if she proved victorious.

But she said she would continue to respect a key Nato pact under which an attack on one member of the military alliance is seen as an attack on all 30 members.

Russia has opposed any expansion by Nato towards its borders - including any effort by its neighbour Ukraine to join the military alliance. Nato has sent weapons to the Ukrainian army during the conflict.

Le Pen will battle Emmanuel Macron for the presidency in a run-off election later this month.

Some have accused her of being too close to Russia.

She has publicly condemned the invasion of Ukraine, but visited President Putin before the previous French election in 2017. Her party has also used Russian loans.

Labour accused of 'hypocrisy' as Russian-linked donations are questioned

LABOUR has been accused of ‘rank hypocrisy' as they face criticism for calling on the Conservatives to return party donations from Russian oligarchs, while failing to reveal if their own Russian-linked money will be returned. Who's been donating to the Labour party?

Actual donations not wandering into the local bank that may be partly owned by a Russian (or Chinese, White South African etc - shock horror not all banks are owned by liberal lefties) and asking for a loan.

We have had our noses so far into the trough with Russian Oligarchs in the west for decades Abramovich and his ex KGB colleagues never have to use toilet paper.

Rich People are not normally nice people especially from countries that don't do human rights. Our politicians like Rich people's money.

Hmm. The headlines and the details. "Russian-linked money", no it didn't come from Lord Lebvedevedev. It came from Martin Taylor, a hedge fund manager who managed a fund up until 2015 which had investments in Russia. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-h...-idUSKCN1MZ2KX

So, not a Russian oligarch donating directly to the party, but an Englishman who (amongst other things) managed an investment fund.
And when he stopped managing that investment fund, he still donated to Labour.

Do we think this is the same thing as receiving money from Russian oligarchs?
